The first word to describe Koffin Kats’ fourth release Drunk in the Daylight should be “relentless”. Over an hour of KK madness is contained on this 17 song opus for the band. And as most of you know, Koffin Kats are not known for dropping any filler material into their albums…so lay any doubts aside, this new record is the pinnacle of the band’s lifespan so far. Here’s what you may not know: Koffin Kats actually recorded almost all of these new songs last year but scrapped those recordings because they felt they could do better…and speaking for HairBall8 Records, that’s exactly what they did. Koffin Kats went back into the studio earlier this year and re-recorded the songs until their hearts were content. So prepare yourself for maximum impact when it comes to belligerent energy, creative songwriting, and a full thrashing of all moral value. Vic Victor’s pipes have never resonated more fully as he croons and croaks alongside his ever-increasing upright bass playing abilities. It also may seem like Tommy Koffin has been taking guitar lessons from Greg Ginn but actually his natural abilities have come to fruition due in large part to constant touring and consistent recording. And E-Ball Walls, what can we say except things have really come full circle for the band with E-Ball in the lineup again…and that has proven to mean his talent for the prolific pounding of drum skins is a serious superglue that binds the band together ever so tightly. Be ready for a sharp and venomous offering that will strike a chord with all true punk, psychobilly, and metal fans.
